After watching the Human Weapon series on DSTV, Golani decided to put some of the techniques to the test, and found that many, if not most of these techniques used in sport martial arts, were very ineffective in real life situations.
We composed a series of video clips, demonstrating these flaws, and then show you the alternative Kalah option.

The KALAH system can only be officially instructed by the instructors named on our website! Anyone else using the name KALAH, or claiming to be affiliated with the KALAH system or Golani Specialist Security not named on this website, does so falsely!
Please feel free to email us to verify such claims. To maintain our high standards and to ensure your satisfaction and the integrity of our system, we implore you to get KALAH instruction from verified and qualified KALAH instructors only.
KALAH is the most advanced hand to hand combat system in existence today. The system as it stands today is in use by special forces, close protection units and the private sector.
The KALAH system was developed by Idan Abolnik, as an evolutionary follow up system to Krav Maga, after noticing that modern Krav Maga had become so diluted, that it was no longer effective. Idan Abolnik identified countless ineffective techniques in Krav Maga, and decided to break away from the evermore diluting system, to form KALAH.
This is the only system that allows you to train close reality, as we use real knifes and real guns (sometime even loaded guns). We use no protection, no judo mats and train very aggressively. Everything is straight to the point!
The KALAH system covers many attack situations:
This is COMBAT SYSTEM INSPIRED BY GOD.
We structure our lessons to be support your development of Kalah. Therefore students have to take at least one lesson per week. For Kalah to be effective in real life, this is a bare minimum interval of training, doing less hampers progress and becomes ineffective.
Classes are structured in group or private lessons. Private lessons can be taken for more focussed attention, but as a student develops, he/she will be moved to a group, which allows you to develop Kalah with different types of people.
Lesson times are at least one hour in length, but can ocasionally be lengthened.
We have studios situated in (view the Studios & Instructors page for studio locations):
Our belief system is to train as close to reality as possible. This requires a strong mentality, which we also then develop with time, to ready you for real life situations. Our training is also very physical, which is also something a student can develop in time.
We don't use any protection, we don't do warmup; you have to be ready for anything, at any time. We encourage students to also ask a lot of question, which we can then answer with a practical solution.
As a student develops, real weapons are also used to overcome any mental blocks that come with real weapons.
It's no secret that in South Africa, hijacking syndicates run rampant, and cause a lot of deaths. This is the difference between South Africa and first world countries, criminals don't only steal, they also kill.
The government and the police's solutions, are totallt ineffective in South Africa, as they give you advice as it applies to first world countries. Being calm and handing over your posessions, WILL NOT guarantee your safety.
We feel that when placed in such a situation, with the neccessary skills, one could respond and defuse such situations.
We have special anti-hijacking workshops, where we teach and address as many situations as possible. Our simulations are highly realistic.
We also teach some basic bodylanguage skills, which could enable you to spot a hijacker even before something happens.
In South Africa, rape is quite simply a majour epidemic. We feel rape is as serious as murder, and is such a brutal and terrible crime.
Every woman should be able to defend themselves agains such an attack. Our anti-rape cources aren't based on "poke-the-eyes" type of defenses, as these will never work in real life.
These courses are very emotionally challenging, which is neccessary to prepare a woman for real life situations.
We have civilain Kalah, and then also Kalah techniques specific to law enforcement. We can design a Kalah program around any units needs.
Generally, law enforcement hand to hand combat training is very ineffective. Training is mostly done in comfortable situations, with protection and non-realistic aggresion. This leads to the inability to respond to situations in real life.
In our modern age, law enforcement also relies too much on technology, and not on the development of practical knowledge, which is a huge problem. At the end of the day, everything is still in the hands of a person, and not a camera or fancy tool.
